THE HINDU THREAD TRICK (often referred to as THE GYPSY THREAD)  by Lewis Ganson
(paperback stapled, mint condition) 1980  Supreme 1st edition
    24 pages.
this book is from new-old dealer inventory, and so is in new condition, never previously owned.
The Gypsy Thread is such a great effect, I am surprised more magicians do not perform it regularly.
It uses the most ordinary of props -- a spool of sewing thread.   When learned properly, it is not particularly difficult to do.   The handling of the thread is so open and natural, and allows for the spectators to "burn" your hand as there is nothing tricky (apparently) for them to see.   All they see is a miracle.
For sheer simplicity and directness of effect, it is hard to find another trick in magic that exceeds it -- thread is broken into many pieces, and almost immediately and visually restored to a single strand.
So why aren't you performing the Gypsy Thread?
If you are like me (or like I was for many years), you have read a handling in a book of magic classics, and after trying to learn it, the trick wasn't working the way you imagined it would.  Because for all its apparent simplicity, the Gypsy Thread is actually a carefully engineered and choreographed effect.  Setting it up correctly (or incorrectly, as was my case when I first tried to learn it) will make or break the successful execution.   Add to this the potential to overlook the very minor (but critical) handling touches that elevate the mystery, and...
Okay, I guess I just figured out why a lot of magicians gave up on the Gypsy Thread  -- it is because they never got Lewis Ganson's excellent booklet on how to do this effect successfully and effectively.  After I read this book, I was, like "OH, I GET IT NOW".   And I have been performing The Gypsy Thread ever since.
Ganson covers this effect in excellent detail, all the way down to the best kind of thread to use.  His photographs, illustrations and text make the optimal set-up preparation very clear.  And he includes important nuances and touches as he teaches the handling.     The main handling that is taught is by Hans Trixer, with some added tips and ideas from Marconick.  But the book also provides ideas from Ali Bongo, and a handling by Pat Conway.
It's time you added this amazing effect to your repertoire.  This book will give you the info needed to do that.
